Using I Hate Spam
I Hate Spam helps you review and manage emails in Gmail and Outlook accounts you own or are authorised to manage. You remain responsible for each action you approve.
Gmail supports the available cleanup actions. Outlook supports reviewed batches that move selected scanned messages to Archive or Deleted Items, with restoration to Inbox. Outlook can also create a rule for each exact address you select so future messages from that address go to Deleted Items; those rules remain in Outlook until you remove them.
Gmail and Outlook offer assisted unsubscribe through supported header links. For manual cases, opening the sender’s page is treated as processed after your explicit click in I Hate Spam, but is not independent proof that the sender completed the request.
The service also supports automatic requests for selected, verifiable Gmail one-click links on supported platform-controlled Beehiiv, Bloomreach, Kit and ActiveCampaign destinations. You review and confirm the batch before any request is sent. An accepted request is not independent confirmation that emails have stopped.
Outlook automatic unsubscribe sending is not yet supported; blocking is completed in Microsoft’s blocked-senders settings. Gmail can block a selected sender with a filter. Closing the window cannot undo requests already sent. Not every newsletter is supported. Spam reporting and permanent deletion are not enabled for Outlook. Recovery from Deleted Items remains subject to mailbox retention policies.
For 90 days, the browser may remember senders you confirmed as treated so a later scan does not propose the same future action again.
No guarantee of delivery or blocking
Email providers and senders control their own systems. A requested unsubscribe, block or filter may take time to take effect and cannot be guaranteed by I Hate Spam.
Keep your account secure
Never share your email password. Authorise access only through the official Google or Microsoft consent screen, and revoke access if you no longer wish to use the service.
